Who / what you need
Construction General Permit ALR100000
Coverage required for land disturbance of one acre or greater - or under one acre when part of a common plan of development or sale of an acre or more. The 2026 CGP took effect April 1, 2026.

Who / what you need
LAR100000 - large construction (5+ acres)
LPDES general permit for stormwater discharges from construction disturbing 5 acres or more.

Covers disturbance of 1 up to 5 acres. Under 1 acre there is no LDEQ requirement (local rules can still apply).

1. SWPPP - before construction
Prepare the Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan before work starts; keep it on site. Do NOT submit it to LDEQ - the permit is self-implementing, and the NOI certifies the SWPPP exists and complies.

Select the number of coverage years (through final stabilization) and pay all annual fees with the NOI. Authorization comes 48 hours after the postmark of a complete NOI.

An NOT must be submitted when an ongoing project transfers to a different operator.

Large Construction General Permit (5+ acres)
Coverage for disturbance of 5 acres and greater; NOI, recoverage and major-modification forms on the MDEQ page.

Covers 1 up to 5 acres. Administratively continued past its April 30, 2024 expiration while MDEQ works toward reissuance - check the page for the current permit.

Coverage required for construction disturbing one acre or more - or less than an acre when part of a common plan of development or sale. Coverage runs 5 years, then renew or terminate.
